We're expecting 8-10 inches of snow today here in northern Massachusetts. Our backyard is busy with all varieties of birds and wildlife. Juncos, finches; house finches and gold finches, tufted titmice, chicadees and cardinals visit the feeder frequently during the day to feed on blackoil sunflower seeds. They also enjoy a variety of suets with nuts and fruits. Hairy and Downy wood peckers come daily and love the suet. Red and gray squirrels and chipmunks will eat any leftovers under the feeders. We've had success this year with new feeders that keep the squirrels from feeding. I don't think they're starving though. They are all looking well fed.
